First V Nickel & Other Finds

I have been off of work and away from the computer for a week. Here are the finds from the last few hunts:

Hunted some old tear downs that everyone in town has already hunted, however I was able to winkle out a 1960 dime and some wheaties. The dime was silver coin number 60 for the year.

I managed to find my first V nickel. Being lazy, I usually don't go for the nickels, because they turn out to be pull tabs most of the time. However, I was at an older site that does not have much trash. so figured what the heck, and low and behold a 1896 nickel appeared in the hole. It's quite toasty, but good enough for me.

TNet member Shovelnose was nice enough to take me on a hunt. I found a few coins, but the keeper for the day was a Herbert Hoover 1928 campaign thimble. It says "Hope & Happiness" on the other side... little did old Herb know that he would shortly be blamed for the Great Depression!

I hunted a vacant lot in the hood. The place was covered with trash. I found a few modern coins, then got a really nice hit, and out pops a giant green coin... what? an LC... no way... turns out to be a 1921 British penny.

Congrats on your first V nickel! Always nice getting a first in any category. I was on a V nickel roll last week and pulled 5 of them from 3 different spots. Keep in mind I don't do much park or school yard detecting unless I know they are really old. Although they always come out of the ground corroded I still like finding them.

I don't have a computer on purpose. I just don't see the whole computer thing going anywhere. The internet is just a fad, it will look like a beehive hairdo or hula hoop in a couple of more years.

Not a knockout week Tom, but the V nickel and thimble are both very cool finds. Hope the new year fills your finds pouch with many silver coins, unique relics, and interesting items.

Congrats on your first V.. Firsts are just great whatever they are.. for me sometimes, once I get the first one, the door opens for more!
I like the english penny.. and your Hoover thimble.. I found a Hoover fob that says "4 more years of Prosperity" on it! Politicians - some things never change. lol
