My finds from a short hunt this weekend. My favorite find is the 5.5" howitzer shell frag. If you follow me you know I've found 5 complete shells so it's interesting to find an exploded one at this site. I can't imagine being hit by something like that! The site was the home of a Rev War general & also had multiple patriot encampments during the war. Another cool find is the piece of an 18th century clasp knife. It is a near perfect match to the one in "Sketch Book 76" that was found at Valley Forge. Mine was found within a few feet of the 2 firepits we located. It was right on top of the ground. It just goes to show you that there are some nice relics in the nail range (although I would have to dig thousands of nails at this site to find anything). I also found a couple buttons, a broken arrowhead & a plantation hoe that's in great shape. Any day I can find something from the Revolutionary War is a great day in my mind! Thanks for looking & HH!

Thanks Curt. Here is what the whole ones look like if anyone is interested. I've got 3 clean & 2 more to go (a friend is helping). I'm sure he's glad I didn't find another whole one!

Looks like it was well worth the trip Josh. Nice shell frag and knife handle, and those hoes are among my favorite finds at colonial sites. Should clean up nicely. I know you're chomping at the bit to get that bobcat back at the site and uncover some amazing pieces of history. Good luck when that happens.

Nice finds Josh. Congrats. The clasp knife handle is very cool. I like the fact that you have a picture that is an exact match. GL&HH.

You're sure they're not old bowling balls?

Positive! Everything is well documented at this site. I know who left them down to the year & the week (although I know you're probably joking...)
