I cut out of work early today to go detecting in downtown Eugene Oregon. I dug a pile of clad and a few wheat cents, but I also dug my silver coin #3 for the year ~ a 1964 Rosie dime . . . . and silver coin #4 for the year a 1880-CC Morgan Dollar!!! This is the first Morgan dollar I have ever dug! And, it is also the first Carson City mint coin I have ever dug! WOOHOO ~ TREASURE!!!

Thanks everyone for the kind words! I am still on a high from this find! WOOHOO

Nel, congratulations.

I am going to vote you for banner. Yes, that is a key date and yes it is worth a lot more than a "normal" Morgan dollar. I would check and make sure it isn't a error Morgan, but you probably already have.

What a thrill--first to find a Morgan and then to learn you've also found the coveted CC mint mark. Way to go!!!! Of course it was quite a financial loss for someone, as a Morgan was worth the equivalent of a day's wages back in the 1880s. I'll bet someone spent a lot of time looking for it.
