Dug a new site tonite, an in-town lot active in the 'teens. Guess I got permission, the nearest business owner said "the bank owns it nobody'll care"... she was right.

The compact lid dates from the 1920-30's...match safe is kinda beat up but is still the find of day.

May have to go back tomorrow...thanks for the view good luck this weekend. C9

Interesting finds!
If you ever want to get the dent out of that match safe fill it with water and put it in your freezer. The water will freeze and expand getting rid of most of the dent.
Just a little experiment I tried once with some success.

Cool finds, this is a long shot, put water in the match safe and freeze it, it might pop back into shape, people have used that method to get dents out of motorcycle gas tanks. You might not want to tey it, it might split it or make it too big if it freezes too long.

Nice finds, your match safe still has the lid, I found one and the lid was lost. Is it silver? Mine had the smallest "sterling" mark on the lip of the bottom part where the lid would close over it. I had to use my loop to see it. If it had not been for the banks giving out loans so they could bet against them failing with buying derivatives we would not be in the predicament of most of our homes in foreclosure. They almost crashed our economy in 2008 with there blatant criminal behavior. For all there efforts, they got more money from bailouts so they could give there CEO's millions in bonus's.
Where is my bailout?

Go do that foreclosure, the banks don't care.

Very very cool finds. My favorite kinds. Personal items. Really nice design on both the compact and esp. the match safe. WTG !
