Assuming that each of the 88 outing lasts 4 hrs (?) and with a total of 2689 coins, you're averaging about 7 - 8 coins/hr. In Jan-Feb 2015, I found 769 coins in 105 hrs, or about 7 - 8 coins/hr as well (doesn't include all the gold, jewelry, sinkers and other valued items). I often rate beaches based on my coins/hr and, of course, gold found. The range varies tremendously from 1/hr (often on reconstituted beaches) to 20-30/hr when I hit a coin pocket (about as fast as I can dig them up). I have found 2 coin pockets so far; one contained about 86 coins, all at about 10-12" down at low tide on a very popular and heavily metal detected Florida east coast beach , and another with 197 coins in 4-5 ft of water off a popular Florida west coast beach. I keep these coin counts because I'm motivated by the fact that I find a gold item for every 200 - 250 coins, on average. Thus, the more coins I find the more gold I find and, as a consequence, favor beaches with high coin counts. The ever present possibility of finding a coin pocket at low tide or in the surf forces me to search for other coins in the area when I detect one. A "buddy" may be close by. When you find a coin in the sand at low tide or in the surf, be sure to look for his buddy...if you stumble upon a coin pocket you might find hundreds (and don't forget about the possible gold underneath)!
