No, I did not find these but I had to share this!!! It would no doubt be a banner find if my friend was a member on here. One of my good friends, Bill found a Flemish Gold "Rider" (there's a knight on a horse) that dates from 1419-1467 (before Columbus!) He also found a 1666 shilling, 1697 1/2 shilling & a 1676 reale all within a 5 foot area!!! This is by far one of the best early coin finds/cache that I have seen in a while. I am truly jealous & truly happy for ole' Bill! The video is shot at a weird angle but entertaining nonetheless. Unfortunately we had to cancel our bobcat trip this weekend because of weather but hope to get it out the 13th-15th! (maybe I'll find something to do a "happy dance" over!) photo 1.JPG photo 2.JPG

You said in the video that bill found his second gold coin? Did he find one on a different hunt? Ha I was watching and yelling when I could see and HEAR him rubbing and rubbing that gold coin. I would have been licking and licking that baby!

CONGRATS to him! That hands down is by far the coolest coin I have ever seen on this website or anywhere.

I do find it remarkable that there is very little wear on that gold coin. It must have been a prized coin to someone that kept it out of circulation. It was a collectors item, I'm sure, back when it was lost.

I'm not sure, given the bend it had it could have been a love token or something the owner didn't intend to part with, but how many people in the early 1700s had the luxury of pulling gold from circulation for their collections, especially in the colonies? The condition is quite remarkable though, whatever the story.

He found another years ago before I knew him, I'm pretty sure it was a US coin.

Wow. The rider side is a snapshot from all but a different world. The knight in armor, the horse...wow. Amazing and much appreciation for the updated pics.
