No, I did not find these but I had to share this!!! It would no doubt be a banner find if my friend was a member on here. One of my good friends, Bill found a Flemish Gold "Rider" (there's a knight on a horse) that dates from 1419-1467 (before Columbus!) He also found a 1666 shilling, 1697 1/2 shilling & a 1676 reale all within a 5 foot area!!! This is by far one of the best early coin finds/cache that I have seen in a while. I am truly jealous & truly happy for ole' Bill! The video is shot at a weird angle but entertaining nonetheless. Unfortunately we had to cancel our bobcat trip this weekend because of weather but hope to get it out the 13th-15th! (maybe I'll find something to do a "happy dance" over!) photo 1.JPG photo 2.JPG

Just to be there and see that happen might be as much fun as actually finding them...might be! Congratulate your friend on a wicked find , outstanding really!

That was an antique coin even to the earliest of American settlers. Perhaps some well-to-do person's lucky coin or maybe just like we sometimes find very old coins in circulation today maybe this coin was simply still circulating in the 15 and 1600's.

nice that it was on video! Kudos to whoever tried to stop him from taking sandpaper to it. Hopefully it didn't get too mangled. Still nice to see such a beautiful coin being found.

I commented on the other thread. Just crazy awesome. So you use a Bobcat to scrape off a few inches of ground is that right?
Yes, we use it to clear & then scrape off a few inches at a time. It's amazing (and depressing) what the iron masks. We did it last year & found 2 firepits where the Rev War soldiers had camped.

Wow. Well, thanks for the response. I have a few spots where I plan to try this. Only makes sense to me.
