I spent 8 years in artillery. This reminds me of the time we went to a training area that somehow had some high explosive shells go off while they traveled overhead. The fresh shrapnel was jagged. I remember running my hand over some pieces and any more pressure would have tore through my skin. We once leveled a forest directly in front of us by using flechette and HE rounds.
