Old KKK clansman ring

Came across this ring while going through my grandfathers attic who recently passed away and wondering is this an actual clans member ring and if so what it's worth of any other info I can obtain on this would be appreciated. Thanks

I have one identical to that one that I bought thinking it was the real deal and figured it might be worth some money some day. I have a sneaking suspicion it is not real for this reason: my buddy bought some old " slave " iron cuffs, that research on the net says is fake, from the same seller at the same event. Based on that alone, I have always thought it was fake. You can tell mine is crudely homemade by a less than expert jeweler, lol. The " KKK " is stamped into the side as yours looks to be and has the same hooded figure.
I hope someone can prove me wrong...I hate getting ripped off, lol.

OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE BEEN A MEMBER? HAHAHA Hate to say, but there are a lot of Klansfolk around right now. Even babies.

He was not a member as far as my family knows but he was a well traveled flea market shopper. Thanks for any info so far

Old enough? Klan is still active and been active for years though not as large... Dont think his GF's age would determine if it's real....

If Junk Metal, it's more likely fake.

true but I believe they are more hidden now then back then.

My opinion a Klan ring that obvious would have been publically accepted more in the 30's then now

Oneg00... I bought mine at a flea mkt type event....the Carlisle Car Show here in Pa. Jeff of pa knows it very well, I believe. There are vendors from all over the U.S. And Canada there. I bet yours and mine are the same ( probably faked ).
If you can prove it is real, hang on to it. I have been told Klan memorabilia is often bought just so it can be destroyed. That would make any real items' worth go up, I am sure.

Yep, sadly there are still a lot of them around! My ex-wife was friends with a lady in West Virginia whose husband was a Grand Dragon and proud of it. I figured it out the first time we met as he had an antique Grand Dragon outfit in a case in their' living room. The second time we met, he asked me if I knew what KKK stood for. In my way of showing dis-taste for what he was a member of and to be sarcastic, I said sure, it stands for "Kool Kolored Kiddies". No shiite, I said exactly that to which he gave me a threat and to which I stated, "do I look like I am afraid and you do know that I can shoot any of you from a mile away, right"??!! I even knew where they met weekly (at a local Antique Store whose owner was a member) and even monthly (an old closed down Drive-In Theater). I would stroll into the Antique Store occasionally and peruse just so I could see the looks they gave me because they knew who I was.

Back in 1982, I met a fellow Air Force member while stationed at Keesler AFB. He carried a card in his wallet declaring himself to be a member of the KKK. This fellow was from Florida and said there were still many members in that state back then.

I'd offer him $20 for it and then try to sell it for $50,000.00 quick sale.

I've never known a Ring to hurt anyone.

As I said, mine was very crudely made. The one pic shows " ST..." Stamped into the original ring that was used to make it. Either Sterling or Stainless, as in the stainless steel spoon rings that were popular in the 1970's. Does yours look like this one inside or was it more professionally made?

it actually looks like someone took pride in making it.
so I'd consider it real.

it doesn't look machine produced for carnival sales.

Oh, I have no doubt it was made by someone, but because it was sold by a fellow selling definite fake slave-era artifacts, I think it was made to dupe suckers like myself, lol.
As TH said, it represents American history whether you like the beliefs or not. Sweeping history under the rug just because it represents America's dark side will not teach nor change people. You have to accept it happened and move forward, no matter how distasteful.
