Probably a meteor-wrong but it lit up the detector and is magnetic.

Spent a couple hours on the beach...found a couple chunks of mortar that mate up. Also found the usual assortment of musket balls including a strange one...good time!

In all the places I have hunted there's only one little piece of shoreline where I found those belted balls. Not a very common find.

Out of the 1000s of musketballs I've found this is a first...must be somewhat rare!

That's a cool looking ball, never seen one before either.

Very cool finds for sure. Never saw a ball like that. How did they fire something that had a band on it? Pardon my ignorance as I have not dug many relics like that.

I haven't seen a ball like that either. I may not have 1000's, but certainly a few hundred.

The rock is interesting too, does the magnet stick to it as strongly as it would to a piece of steel / iron or somewhat less than? I think you have a chance there. You know where to take it to find out for sure.

I'll take you up on that...always nice to add something you don't have to your collection...heard of the rifle before but have not seen the ammo before...

I'll show you a spot!
I know the one IP mentioned, but I've found a couple in another area not far away, other than that those suckers are elusive

I think it's fairly sandy shore there so there would be some deep ones still around. Probably didn't spend any more than 45 minutes and that was probaly 12 years ago.
