UPDATED INFO ON RING

St. Patty's Day and it started out giving me a couple wee hints.

I had to go by the store for batteries and when I opened the car door, there was a quarter & a nickel laying there. :)
Then, I had to stop & get some gas. Again, I opened the door and there was a penny laying there. :) Hmmmmm!!

So, I get to the park and right away I knew my luck was still good. The ground was thawed! I could hunt anywhere I
felt like, except the mud puddles. I'm not a very good "mudder". ;) LOL

Didn't stay real long but did fine enough.

2015 (111).jpg

Of course, Blingie goes for the bigger piece. ;)

2015 (112).jpg

But, I'm beginning to appreciate Fishy's eye on things.
I think he made the better choice.

Silver, I think. Much prettier in my opinion.
Are those supposed to be stirrups? There are some
markings but they're pretty much worn off. I suspect
this is a much older ring than the park. Can't justify it,
just a feeling.

Anyway, even though we're in for another round of cool weather.
I had a rather nice peek at what's coming this year! Hang in there!

Nice finds! Congrats on your thawed ground!

Maybe Blingie didn't want the stirrups, looks too much like a saddle to him! People may get ideas! Lol!

I found a dime on the floor at a store today! We had a tiny bit of thawing but not enough to dig, but it ill refreeze. An MD'er in MA told me he detected the beaches ok so I may make a trip there this weekend, barring the usual obstacles.

Keep finding, it gives me hope!

Nice going. They are predicting snow here on the first day of spring. I hope to get out in a field tomorrow. I believe it will be thawed enough.

Yep, interesting. Are stirrups a normal design for a ring? :icon_scratch:

Same here. But the ground is warming. If it does flurry, it won't be around long. We've made it!

Good to see you got out and had some thawed ground. Calling for snow Friday but, think the worse is behind us as for far as cold and snow go.

Awesome Whadi, I am not sure that Fishy's treasure is a spur, it kind of looks like a bit for a horse's mouth. You had a great hunt and here's to many more in the near future! Happy Hunting, Sub 8-)

Interesting thought. I hadn't seen it before.

Anyway, it appears to be equestrian.

Thanks!

I've acid tested, ice tested, and foil tested. It's silver for sure. But the marks inside are just too worn away. Except for the size 7. The wear appears to be from some lengthy
wearing of the ring. Natural wear. I've had it under a microscope. Nothing legible. :dontknow:

I agree, looks very much like one of the bits I used as a kid on my family's horses. It's been decades since I saw one but f I remember correctly, it's called a Hackamore bit. At least that's what my father called it. HH:thumbsup:

Very cool find I would say...n it's silver! Good to see your getting out, won't be long buddy. Practice that PP in the dark, cause the bay is still murky.
