Today was his 39th birthday so we went for a walk around the mansion. Know what? The ole boy's still
got it! :)

There's not much there but darn if he didn't still sniff out a few relics.

Strange piece this.

2015 (117).jpg

I'd swear that's a tiny, really old, sailboat at the bottom. :dontknow:

2015 (118).jpg

This pocket watch was a FULL 12 inches deep! I am impressed!

To finish up, there was a bit of funny. I mean you shoulda heard the
tall stories of past excursions going back and forth the whole time.

I told Groundy about how we might be in trouble when we got
home. He didn't know about Blingie & Fishy.

So, "on the way back to the car"....

How about dem apples! LOL

It has a sail, and it is a boat. Looks to me that it represents some kind of boat quite a bit older than a modern sailboat though. Nice finds.

Is the control box separate from everything else? Not sure if I have seen one. After our conversation the other evening, I did what I said and bought new rechargeables, lol.

Actually, I've been back to diggin' for a while now. But, I remembered that I'd bought that machine exactly 39 years ago. I'd turned it on over the years since I'd hung it up once in a while. (almost 20 years).
But, I'd not proven that it could still do the job. So, I took it for a walk. Fun day! Lot's of memories!

The piece with the boat? It sort of reminded me of a Sampan. Hard to tell what it might have been. :dontknow:

Thanks1

You wouldn't have seen one quite like this. I took it off it's original handle, (which I still have too) and extended the cable, moved the tuning button to the box itself. All this was so I could use the 10 inch
coil in my water hunting excursions.

About the batteries? SOME people just will not pay attention in class! I hope you'll enjoy a good year despite a slightly weakened machine. ;) LOL

Thanks!

Yeah, well I had been saying it still worked. Mostly because it would still fire up when turned on. I thought I'd give it
a whirl. Impressive! All those years on the shelf and it STILL finds stuff. Trouble is, it's a whole lot less stable and is heavy as
all get out! Glad I don't HAVE to use it all the time again. Was nice hearing that mellow, smooth, low hum again though. Different world!

Thanks!

One more joins the ranks! Congrats on finding with an oldie but great machine!
My old MD no longer works, needs new insides, but I can't get rid of it, silly I know.

That strange piece has some kind of writing on those raised ribbon (?) sections above the what looks like the other poster said a Phoenician boat.

What is the piece in the first pic in the top left, metal with a glass or plastic piece in the end of it?

The boat piece is so small and with such little detail, I've just about given up on trying to figure it out. The back is just smooth. I'm thinking, maybe,
some remnant of a printing block? :dontknow:

The glass&brass piece? I have no clue either. It's actually a solid brass base with a indentation in the center of the bottom and that's a broken off tube of solid
glass coming out. :dontknow:

Anyone's guess is better than mine. :)

Thanks for the response!
