Just got back from being away for a little while and I was itching to get out in the water today. My dry suit was back from Kokotat for some repairs and I wanted to get out and pray for no more leaks! (All good on that score!) Now on to the really GOOD stuff!...lol

Started out in the water (about 2 hours) still a bit choppy out and got smacked a few times by some swells untill the tide was further out and the rain stopped, then it wasn't too bad. Not as much stuff there as I would have thought but the damp sand seemed to have much better tgts, and more of em.
Total hunt was about 4.5 hours and I was BEAT! The class ring is 10K, 13.1 grams and initially rang in at 12.32 on the CTX. Thought that was kind of high on the scale but when I saw the size of that monster (weight and the fact it fits on my "ham hands" and is a size 12) I knew why. I thought it would be older based on it's look but it's 1996. Guess someone liked the "retro" look.

The TINY band also rang in kind of high at 12.30. It is REALLY crudded up and afterI looked at it a few times I first thought maybe it was junk or had been plated or something but after some serious (but gentle, it's pretty thin...) scrubbing I could finally get down to the actual gold. Tested it and it's 10k as well. Still really cruddy, I know it's likely pretty old and I hope to get the crap off the inside as well and see if there is any writing or a date.

Found some other cool tickets as well, 3 Merury dimes, 2 Buffalo nickles, 6 wheats, a 1940's Portsmouth Transit Token (first one of these for me), what looks like a button or something with a "B" on it (may have been painted on too, I see blue paint) and the oval piece is what I believe may have been a ring once and it looks like there is a letter on it in script. I'm still working on cleaning that one but I think I see some yellow under the crud but it's probably old gilding/plating. Thanks for looking!

Nice finds! I personally believe that small ring is fake. The #'s never lie, and if it rang in as a 12:30 that would not at all match the numbers that it should be if it were actually gold, unless all the salty conductive crud on it has thrown the numbers off that much. I have never had a tiny gold ring come in that high (12:30) and it be real. I would assume that would come in at 12:07 or lower. As far as test passing, if it was acid, those tests are easy to pass with plating from a ring. The class ring, there is no denying that and the numbers match as well. Awesome.

I agree with nolanation. If you zoom in you can see that it was goldplated on top of what looks like copper. Nice pictures by the way. And nice classring we do not have them over here sadly.

It's hard to see but he crud is on the top and gold underneath. See it quite often here when it's been in the salt water for a long time. I kept rubbing/scratching and nothing under the gold except more gold. 10k so the copper was leaching out and covering the outside. It was why the numbers threw me too, totally corroded all the way around so it ran up more like copper. After some clean up it rings in at 12.20 now.

You can still see the corrosion in the pitted areas, couldn't get it with the sandpaper. It's hard to tell from the photo but the gold really is underneath the crap that is still left and not the other way around.
