I stumbled upon this piece of a 1942 Walker last night, while detecting an old home site. I am not sure of exactly what it is. It has a "slice" through the edge, where the reeding is, as shown in the pic. I saw some coins cut into jigsaw puzzles on the internet, maybe somebody tried to make one at home.

Any help with the ID would be appreciated.

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts

Maybe a sheath for a REALLY small razor blade knife for hiding. LOL

In any case, neat piece!

I'd keep looking. Other pieces are nearby. The band deteriorated.

i saw a magicians trick coin that was cut like that and had a thin elastic band around it so he could fold the coin to fit into a bottle, like magic. maybe the other pieces are around there too. JMHO

That's exactly what it is... A magicians coin that had a rubber band around the edge. it could be folded in 3 pieces and then put in a bottle and it would expand so fast you could not see it. That is also how they do the coin trick behind the ear... I used to have a few of these made from Kennedy halves... :)

That's a neat find. I found a Kennedy Half a number of years back that was a magicians coin. The top & bottom separated, & it was hollowed out to hold another coin.

I agree with GTM that it's a folding coin. cool find, but sad to see a walker cut up. on the other hand, a far less common find than a regular walker.
