Thought I had some April "fools" gold but its the real deal! Also need an ID on item.

Hit the beach today in a couple different spots, lots of sand still there, not much movement but just enough that some stuff was showing up in the wash and bottom of the slope. I wound the silver cross on my outbound leg at the first location, it was in the wash and I pulled it out, dropped it outta the scoop and tried to trap it with my feet. I'm sure anyone watching from the beach were wondering what the idiot with the metal detector was doing running through the surf stamping his feet and cursing to himself! All I had seen up till now was the chain, all balled up, and I though I had it. Ran the coil over the spot and pulled up the cross with a small piece of chain attached to it. Crap, now I gotta find the chain....no luck, back and forth in the area for 20 mins with nothing more to show for it. I believe the cross is Russian Orthodox (Cyrillic writing).

On the return leg I was looking to see where I had lost the chain figuring I'd give it another go and as I was walking in that direction I got a nice signal and there it was! The chain (2 pieces but knotted up together). Pretty happy about that and was figuring that would be the best of it when just a few feet away I got a nice low 12.03 that I thought would be some more scraps of metal and got some gold! I was skeptical at first, thought it felt kinda light, but after checking it at home it's marked 14k and tested positive. 10.1 grams so I'll take it! (looks like it's missing a few links)

One thing I need an ID on is the long brass tube. It's ported on one end and capped on the other. Anyone ever seen one before or know what it might be?

I think the long rod is a thief for sampling grain or coffee or the like.

The gold bracelet looks significant. Did you see any other markings on it? Nice job!

It does look like one, but I am not sure why it is bent and usually they are pointed so as to be able to stab it into the bag.

Thanks for the input on the ID guys! Leaning toward the thermometer idea. Someone on another site gave it the same ID. Also learned that the one bras, domed button could be a German or British military button from 1912-1942

Nice! Congrats on your gold! Great what's it also.

Stomping around in the water with a detector muttering to yourself is fine, it just adds to our mystique!

Yeah, that and keeps the curious people away with the same questions right? Everything from "what are you doing"?/ "You ever find anything here"? / "What have you found today"?/What's the best-most valuable thing you have ever found"? lol
I have answers to all these questions as I'm sure everyone else does (unless they are playing the "I can't hear you with my headphones" on game...). I was thinking of making a T-shirt with the answers to the most commonly asked questions on it!

looks like a soil sampler you take cores of soil and put them in a bag. you take them to a ag co-op they send them to test to see how much fertilizer you need to add. it also tells the ph of the soil so you can see if you need to add lime. have a nice day. dave

No rumors man, it's coming. Still have a a little while to enjoy it while we can.....THEN, after that...there will have to be many more future raids of the "Northern Territory". I think we will all have to chip in for a bus that can fit all of us and our gear (and a large trailer to haul all the booty away!)
