I had a bit of free time this morning and was able hit a park that I haven't been to before. I got a solid 12-35 on the E-Trac that showed at about 4 inches. I figured it was a corroded zinc, but since the park is old there was an off chance it was an Indian so I decided to dig it. I was surprised to see a gold colored ring shining in my plug.

Although the color is right for gold, there are no marks to indicate the karat and it rang up higher than I have experienced a gold ring to usually be. It is small at size 6 1/4, and it weighs 4.1 grams. If I had to guess, it's a low karat rose gold around 8 or 10K. The increased copper content in the low karat rose gold would, I assume, account for the higher reading on the machine. I don't have a gold testing kit so I'll have to take it to a jewelry or pawn shop to have it tested. It's always nice to find a ring though, regardless of what what it ends up being.
