Little story...at TotLot #1 last night, I thought I had found my first silver ring Franklin1.JPG , but nope, fake stone, not silver. Tot Lot #2 this afternoon, another not silver heart ring and this cool little owl with stones for eyes and a picture in it's middle, pretty fancy right? Silver? no marks or numbers anywhere. Elm1.JPG . Back to Tot Lot #1 tonight. I was backing out heading to a different spot and changed my mind at the last second. 5 minutes after getting there, good thing because my son called for a ride 10 minutes later, end of hunt for the night, this little(3.9 grams) 10K beauty came out. 10K1.JPG 10K2.JPG . There is an M in a circle next to the 10K, researching marks are a major pain, anyone have a good site? I have only found 2 non junk rings, both have been gold, yes, I am thanking my lucky stars.

Beautiful ring.

I've pretty much given up on tot lots. I did find a gold earring in one when I first started hunting last year but other than that, trash, clad and a gazillion zincoln's. I just get tired of digging those things.

Looks like your tot lots are way better than mine. Congrats on your first gold ring. May you find many more.

in situ of gold ring

Had to figure out how to get this off my phone and post it. Hate cell phones, but it does beat carrying a camera. 10K4.jpg

Nice Q4 nice. I get a little frustrated when I think that I have found something good, but it isn't marked! Congrats on the score!

When I first started detecting I hated detecting dirt because it was way easier shifting sand than digging plugs. :laughing7:

I would either go to the beach or tot lots. I was like you, I'd hit about 3 or 4 of them each time I went out. Those tot lots gave up some nice pieces of jewelry. I had a Tesoro Golden UMax I use to keep in my car all the time in case I came upon a tot lot I had never detected. It was a killer machine for the dry sand.

Nice finds! :occasion14:

Methinks I need to take my kids to the park more often! I can let the kids keep the toy jewelry.

I had a feeling they were real!

I was hoping when I first pulled it, but they didn't look to shiny, the sides looked like dull glass through my magnifier. The lady cleaned it up and checked it through her loop. When in doubt, get it checked out!

I have found a little silver, but never gold.

Keep diggin' those nickel and "trashy" pull tab signals and you will. Sooner or later it will appear as long as you NEVER give up.

Every nickel and piece of trash you dig is one step closer to your gold score.

I've even been diggin' a little iron lately just to see what's making all of those horrible signals and to satisfy a little curiousity. So far, every piece of dug iron has been pretty horrible indeed.
