Picked up a box that was being thrown out from an old house and scored a ton of antiques including these...

The razor blades are cool but for me the hockey puck is the find of the day! It was made by the Canadian Rubber Company Of Montreal Limited which became the Dominion Rubber Company Limited in 1926. The previous owner even carved his initials in the side of the puck. Probably something that belongs in a museum!

Cool finds, I found the top of one of those Gillette razors in my backyard last year. Puck looks like it has beat to hell and back, must have a Gordie Howe "hat-trick" puck.

Yep, the puck has been well used! The owner of the puck was a pilot in WWII so he would have probably used this puck before then...online research leads me to think that this puck could actually be 19th century...

Sweet finds! I love the puck, and of course the razor blades in their original packaging should be collectible too!

Congrats,

Buck

Trash finds are my favorite. Many people just don't realize how many treasures are indiscriminately tossed out every day. Nice score, that puck is part of your nation's history!

The birthplace of hockey is just a short drive away from you. It could very well be one of the oldest pucks around!

It pays to scrounge in the trash sometimes

You may not be far off with that...I've been Googlin' like a madman and only found one other example...seems to definitely be from the 1800s.

Nice finds! That razor will probably still shave great! Clean it up and give it a try. I wet shave and go back and forth between an old Gillette like that, and a 1940's schick injector! But don't use the vintage blades. Even though they haven't been opened, the egde deteriorates with age.

Did you come across the square puck? I think it said it was the first.. 1886. So if yours is 1800s, it's likely late 1880s, or 1890s.

1. Original square hockey puck (1886)

A true centerpiece of the museum’s display is the collection of late 19th century and early 20th century Kingston and Queens University hockey memorabilia featuring a puck used in the very first game recorded in Ontario in 1886! This is the earliest puck known to exist and it actually consisted of what was originally a lacrosse ball cut into a square-shaped puck. This antique 19th century puck is mounted on a trophy with a plaque.

Nice score on the punk! Hope you find out more about it and decide what you're going to do with it.
