That is a very nice wedding band, love the design of baguettes and round stones with bands between them. Those 2 big diamonds from the past are both outstanding, that's real treasure there.

Thanks well most times yes because platinum is heavier than gold. If you take a ring the same size and everything the platinum would surely outweigh the gold ring. Now with that being said platinum has gone down in value the last 6 to 8 months. For a while it was $100 more per the ounce than gold. Last I looked platinum was $100 lower per ounce than gold. The good thing about platinum the better the diamonds will be.
Yes, platinum is slightly denser than gold. This can be confusing because gold has a higher atomic number (78) than platinum (77), in other words, gold atoms are heavier than platinum atoms. But platinum atoms pack together tighter. Pure gold has a weight of 19320 KG /Cubic meter. Pure platinum has a weight of 21400 KG/ cubic meter. Platinum has a greater specific gravity than Gold. Another reason platinum rings feel so much heavier in the hand than gold, is because the typical Plat alloys are 90% or 95% pure. Most gold jewelry is 10k to 18k, 18k being only 75% gold, most of the rest is usually copper. So the platinum ring has 25% more platinum in it than the 18k gold ring has gold. That's a big difference.

I'm not sure that's necessarily true anymore about the diamonds in platinum being higher quality. Jewelers are pretty clever. Why not set an inferior stone in a platinum ring and still get a premium for it? The mount actually costs less now. Think of all the gold rings with CZ stones, there's no shame anymore. You used to be able to be pretty confident if you found a real gold ring with a diamond that the diamond was also real. No longer.
