Flat Button! Need Help ID'ing

Hey folks - Went to a park near a Rev War skirmish... I have pulled KGII and a Large Cent from this park prior. Today was "clad day" with the exception of this small flat button with the shank intact. Tried to research it w/ no success.

Front: a flourette surrounded by 13 stars

Back: says "Best Quality London"

Anyone know of any online resources to research this button...? Come on people! haha

There are so many variations of buttons its almost impossible to ID them all.... hope someone can help you with it, though.

I am totally amazed as to its condition - they usually are much, much uglier than that! Very nice find!

It being imported like that tells me that it probably dates between the 1780s and the proliferation of quality button manufacturing in the U.S. (1820s-30s).

I've never seen that exact design on a flat button, but that's not surprising since there are thousands of varieties. As far as dating, the "Best Quality London" backmark is an example of quality marks that were used on buttons beginning around 1800 and continued all the way up to as late as 1850. But most are probably from the 1810-1840 era, and that's probably what yours dates from.
