water was supper rough and viz was awful, but did get a rare find - Canadian 1883 5c piece - what they call a "fish scale"
smaller than the holes in my scoop and it fell thru twice - luckily I wear a mask and dropped down to pick it up
got an IH penny - pretty worn
a Buffalo nickel and an old gold ring - more bronze nails and old lead but this was the only interesting find
funny thing was - since I found the LCs and older IHs last week - I told others that there was a chance of possibly
finding half dime or 3c piece there but would have to be careful cause they would fall thru too - never expected one of these
from the water

ring was disappointing after I pulled from scoop to see it was missing its stones - was found not to far from where I got 2 large cents last week - it was from a hole loaded with junk - pulled some iron from hole - then some lead - then an old wheatie - then I looked in scoop to see the ring - got excited when I saw prongs - viz was poor and it was not till I brought up to my mask that I saw 2 stones were missing

also got 2 thin mercs from another spot same day (not pictured)

Very cool, I still haven't been in water clear enough to see. I would love to find old Canadian silver, found a 1918 Cuban half, still no Canadian silver.
Nice hunt, cool site.

Very nice finds C2. I like the fish scale... however, doubt that I will ever see one down here in NC. GL&HH.

nickles have 75% copper in them - so depending on the soil - it will determine if it will turn color or degrade
very seldom will turn much in color or degrade up here in our salt waters if found in sandy bottom - if its a mucky bottom they will darken -
that buffalo just had a light black powder coating on it - just a lite rub with my glove underwater and that is how it came out
that indian head was not cleaned either - that is how it came out after a swipe of the thumb
it just had a thin crust that came right off - one of these days I got to try and do a vid to show how they come up as found
silver here comes out in pretty good shape - for saltwater that is - but you go a few miles down the road in either direction and silver is super caked and encrusted
the soil is different here
