As an English date the numbers would read 13th of July 1984. so perhaps the medal is from across the pond?

NUMBERED KEY FOB .....ANYTHING ON THE REAR? ....SOME WERE SET UP SO IF THE KEYS GOT LOST YOU COULD DROP THEM IN ANY PUBLIC MAILBOX OR MAIL IT AT THE POST OFFICE AND ONCE RETURNED THE OWNER WOULD BE SHIPPED THE KEYS FREE OF CHARGE ... YOU OFTEN WOULD GET PAID $1 AND ANY POSTAGE FEES FOR DOING THE RETURN .(IN THE OLD DAYS $1 WAS A DAYS WAGES) .BY THE COMPANY...THE FOB OWNER PAID IN ADVANCE BY BUYING THE FOB FROM THE COMPANY AND REGISTERING HIS NAME AND ADDRESS AND ATTACHING IT TO HIS KEYS

if one owned a business or had a lot of keys on a key ring and lost them --- having to rekey everything was quite costly and bothersome --thus having key return "insurance" was wise and with no name upon it--- dishonest folks couldn't use the keys to "rob" you or your business and a honest person would make a days wages by returning the keys ..

@Ivan Salis , there is nothing on the back of it. Thank you for the info, all the other medals came from NYC . Most of them date from the 19 teens

Well, you have N A O (or any combination of those three, followed by Co., for company. The oak branch with acorn decorations may be of significance, and the "O" may refer to "oak." Interesting find! Sub 8-)

national automobile organization Compamy ?--- a key ring with a car key is def something you would want back.. in the early 1900 era ..other wise they could drive off with your car..
