***UPDATE: I just finally got around to creating a video of this hunt, if you're interested you can watch it here:

The pictures attached to this post represent 5.5 more hours at a 1715 homestead site that has yielded many period pieces, including a spoon from the 1600's! You can check out the original post here:

http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/t...ead-permission-yields-many-period-relics.html

As you can see the quantity of the "keepers" has diminished, however the quality is still up there!!

The house consists of a 1715 cape style part, and then during the 1780's a huge colonial was attached to the cape.

During this hunt I finished detecting a row of trees that lined a road that used to be in front of the colonial house. My efforts yielded very little, however I gridded the side yard in front of the 1715 structure, as I had found the 1650's spoon in that area my prior visit. This turned up the highest concentration of relics including the 2 old silvers.

On my way from the front yard to the side yard of the 1715 structure I found a crumbly piece of lead/pewter/zinc that I nearly threw in my trash pouch. However, one side of it was rounded enough that I thought, hrmm perhaps something worth taking a closer look at. As luck would have it, when I ran some water over the item when I got back home, on one side a figure appeared and on the other some letters/numbers. A very strange item that I have not had any luck finding out what it was.

At first I thought it may be a religious medal (and it still may be) however looking at it, it almost seems like it may have been some sort of coin, or a counterfeit coin? It also has the appearance of being produced like I would envision a hammered coin. There is the circular strike that created the details, and then the rough outside edge, or so it appears to me. It could just be me seeing things b/c I've stared at it so long. Any help in ID'ing it would be greatly appreciated. I took a ton of pictures of it from all angles, I'll post those in the what is it forum.

Enjoy the pics...

you want to know what the round knob looking thing is. does it have a half round hole in the bottom and a small hole in the side. let me know. if it does it is from the total lever of a old electro/ mechanical cash register. NCR

WOW! When you stop finding keepers I'd start removing iron from a spot like that. You better believe you might have a ton of keepers being masked. Super finds! Keep them coming! :notworthy:

Dude, nobody mentioned that this is the 300 year anniversary of this homestead find. Just like the 1715 wrecks in the Shipwreck forum

Actually, I was curious as to what the religious medal looking thing was. I also posted it in the What is it forum and got an answer. It is definitely a religious medal, and the letters on the back are I H S. See link below for an explaination.

Man you better invest in a wheel barrel to put your finds in while your hunting. That site looks like it has plenty of targets and may keep you busy for a while.

Great finds. Love the maple tap and the "what is it" ox topper. The ox topper you found is of a more unusual design. Here's a few of the different styles I've found.
