Met up with Park Pirate this morning to get in some hunting before the heat, humidity and rain moves in this afternoon. Pickings were slim with just a hem weight and an old military button in the pouch when I get a deep, iffy nickel signal. The previous 20 solid nickel signals yielded nothing but can slaw, beaver tails and other junk so I didn't expect anything different when I dug the plug. Was surprised to pull a Buffalo nickel, then a V nickel and then a second buffalo nickel out of the ground. A nice 3 nickel spill to make the hunt worthwhile. Also pictured in a very nice 1895 Canadian large cent I dug Sunday morning.

Well done Ed. Congrats. Most of my nickels turn out to be trash also! However, one turned out to be a gold wedding ring a couple of months ago... that just fueled the fire, now I dig lots more trash than I used to. Go figure...

Buff spills aren't that common my buddy found a 3 buff spill recently and we're talking about how there's never 3 buffs in the same hole. Maybe now it is common who knows but great finds keep at it !

Congratulations on the coins, you don't see nickel spills that often; especially old ones.

Great post... Awesome plug to pull 3 vintage nickles. :notworthy: I discriminate less and dig more, and am amazed at some of the finds.

Call me a sucker for Victorian artifacts because I'll take an 1895 Canadian LC in place of 3 buffaloes any day.
But that's just me. Sweet finds, great patina on that LC.

You're a nickel finding wizard Ed. You always seem to come up with a few old ones. I love the deep green color of that Canadian LC. Nice hunt.
