Went back to my favorite dump today, and also brought along a friend. Found some cool stuff. Some highlights were this 1924 Mass license plate, some nice early 1900's colored bottles (and a coke bottle), and an old door handle. There was also this cast iron bracket piece that said on one side "73 Cornhill Boston", the other side was really roached, so i'm going to put it through electrolysis later. There were also these little horse shoe shaped pieces. Does anyone know what they are? Were they indeed for midget horses?

By the way, the door handle and old metal pieces I found are considered by some as "scrap metal". Would you keep them?

I would keep them. The Ohio piece (Chagrin Falls?) looks to me like a trivet. Any sign of Bigfoot lately or Basqueman's wife?? :laughing7:

Yes, the trivet does say Chagrin falls, after some research it looks like it was a tourist piece from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, back in the early 1900's. Sadly no bigfoot or wife, just the occasional toad and spider.

Finally put the bracket thing through electrolysis, and the other side says "Pat July (?) 1881". No just to find out how I can re purpose it...

Really nice bunch of finds.
I love hunting old dumps; especially when you come across great finds like yours.
