1910 Barber Quarter and a 1925 Wheatie! Eyeball Finds at a 1940's Bottle Dump!

Still digging at my 1940's bottle dump. Way too much junk metal around to detect, but I did come up with two eyeball finds. The first was a 1925 wheatie, which is a good find. I was bummed that it wasn't a silver coin, but I figured there had to be more where that came from. I was right!

About 10 minutes after I found the wheatie, I spotted a REALLY grungy quarter. I rubbed the back a little and realized it was a Barber! Turned out to be from 1910! I can't believe I eyeballed a 1910 Barber quarter in a dump full of broken bottles and rusty metal!

Here's a few pics. The wheatie cleaned up nice, but the Barber still has some tar or something stuck to it. I'll have to work on getting that gunk off some other time. Still a great find, though!

Thanks! The only reason I spotted them is because I was looking through the dirt for more of these plastic pour spouts I had found the other day:

It's a blast, but tough on the knees! I spend most of my time kneeling on small bits of broken bottles! The things I do for a few old coins! Worth it, though. I'm up to 45 coins now, all from 1910 to 1943. My best spot ever!

I found a lot of wheaties this week, but no really good finds until yesterday. I'll post those two coins in a different thread ASAP.

Yeah, knee pads would make sense. I should probably wear gloves as well! Guess I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed! LOL!

Nice eyeball finds. I got a nice pair of knee pads this year for about 12 bucks. I only use one for my right knee. The el cheapo flooring knee pads I used last season worked but all they were was a piece of foam with a velcroed strap going through 2 slits. We used them when we tiled our floor.
