Hey everyone,

Hope you all are getting out in this great spring weather. Last week I went to my frequent hot spot to do some hunting. I had a nice 4 silver dime day plus a few others.

I was out hunting alone because it was a Friday and everyone was working or in school. Saturday night Lance my brother decides to come over.

I said we'll get up early and head back out to the area were I got the silver dimes. As soon as we get there Lance pulls 2 silver dimes. I said man I found 2 yesterday right in the same area.

We kept hunting and about a few hrs into the hunt I had nothing to show for really. Until all the sudden I make my way up onto a small bluff.

It had a few creeks below it and was a beautiful little nook. And Hit a lone some flat button. I said to Lance found a colonial button. Not thinking anything of it.

I kept on swinging. A few months back I found a flat button in the area also. Didn't think much of it at the time either. Sometimes you find just one here and there.

But then I find another. Then another and so forth. I knew then something was up. There were no pine tree's around to mark the site. No old stones or walls.

There had to have been a small cabin that sat right on this perfectly level land. I ended up pulling out 9 flat buttons. Lance got one himself.

I also hit a nice 1818 large cent. But the find for me was one I didn't know I had. It was my first 1803 drapped bust half cent. I thought when I dug it was a flat button with the shank missing.

It wasn't until I got home and seen the words liberty at the top. Then I knew I had something. We worked the area for a few hrs. Crazy thing was there was no trash or relics.

Everything was a coin or a button. Found one nice large musket ball. And a really nice old charm with a runner on it. Lance found a barber and a merc there.

But other than that it was really quiet. The area was known to have settlers as far back as 1760. I think I hit one of there hidden cabin sites in the woods.

I usually have to look at old maps to find sites like these. I just happen to come across one by accident. The detector let me know of the age of the area.

I will be back soon. I don't think there is much left though. Like I said it was virtually hitless. Only hits were keepers. But you never know what you can miss.

Hope you all like the pics

HH Jer

Good stuff, Jer! I see you found another Pittsburgh Railways token, too. Interesting site, and long interval of time for the coins.

Awesome coins and relics Jeremy! Barbers, Mercs,Buttons, A Large Cent and a Half Cent. Now that's some good hunting. The woods look pretty "hunter friendly" too. ;D

That 1803 half cent - only 92,000 minted. Congratulations.

Are Lance's finds included in your pics? If not tell that boy to get posting again. ;) ;D

Thanks alot everyone,

It was really nice to come across this site. I was already finding later 1800's coins and relics. Then I stumble onto something even older in a area I was already hunting.

I have been able to build up a pretty nice colonial collection. I can usually find about 1 of these sites per yr. This one though I give credit to the unit for the discovery.

I got about 20 large cents in the past 5 yrs or so. No half cents or early silver. It was nice to get this coin.

Here is a picture of Lance's keepers out on my porch wall.

Thanks alot guys,

I'm gonna go back and hit it again slow. There is a huge tree that just fell over right in the middle of the site. I know it's hiding finds.

It took me a good hr to locate the large cent. It was avg depth of about 8 inches or so. I seem to find them in the 8 to 12 inch range soil depending.

Civilman, I don't know how I do it sometimes. I seem to never have a bad hunt. A bad hunt for me is a few wheat cents. And alot of people have trouble locating those.

I'm just humble and love to treasure hunt. I'm not in it for money. I don't part with my finds. And I share all my sites with family members.

Really I'm the one they count on. If it wasn't for me knowing were to hunt and being a basic master on a tough unit. We wouldn't have the sucess that we've had.

I just know were to hunt now from doing it for a long while. Every outing is still tough. And it is still hard to be consistent.

Thanks again

HH Jer
