Went for a drive after some showers to look at a site or two and to knock on a door to get a permission for a site that once had a post office on it. So armed with a little knowledge I drove up and started to chat with the land owner over his pond, which turned out to be fed by a mill pond higher up, then from there a little sharing of history. I popped the question on ownership of the small field across the road and was granted permission to hunt. So after 3 hrs I had iron, a piece of lead that might be a seal, a broken pocket knife and a small door knob. The owners came up on an atv and asked what I was finding and I told them and they stated that I was kind of drawing too much attention from the locals and they calling to see if they were surveying the place...bla.bla.bla So they said that it might be better if went-my heart sank at the sound of permission being taken away only to be replaced by a better suggestion of going down the road 300 feet, drive down a lane and hunt a church that was torn down 60+yrs ago. They said it was built in the late 1880's and it was maybe a good spot to try. In the truck and I was gone, no needing to be told twice. So only had 2.5 hrs to hunt before had to go but it was one of the best hunts in long time for coinage.
It started off first signal a 1910 dime, then followed by a 1936 penny(no dot), then things slowed down as I left the area looking for the cellar hole of the church, so I returned to find a 1918 LC followed by a few 1940 pennies and a 1928 penny. Got then the great looking Navy pin, the silver F pin, then the highlight of the day the 1919 dime and a thanks as it would of been my Dad's Birthday today if he was still living and that was the year he was born, so I thought it was kind special finding the dime and I put it in a holder just because that. Got a rosette with the horse in the middle, and the hair pin. Not bad I thought for a redirect permission. So here's the pictures of the hunt.

4th Generation family owns some real prime real estate around the area and it seems that it takes very little to stir up the flies, and this one little field stuck out like a sore thumb.
The church site is nice and private and I'll enjoy it for a few long hours to come.

Sweet day for sure!!

I'll take getting kicked off a permission any day in exchange for a better one.lol Sounds like you covered a good bit of the first place before you were asked to leave too.
Congrats on all your finds specially that 1919 dime, what a Special find!!

The first field was small enough to find the post office within a few minutes of walking into the gate, the owner said he'd never ploughed the field so everything started at 8" down and a mid 1st-2nd cut of hay growth the Etrac was working but not the best conditions. I'm not going to loose too much sleep over loosing the field. :)

Awesome story Pep. Everything happens for a reason and that 1919 is the proof that you were meant to end up there

Thanks Abe, I think that's the case as it's too much of a coincidence for things like this to just happen. It was my Dad's passion to get the first machine for the family 45+ yrs ago, so it's so fitting to find the dime.

Thanks, it really made my day actually.

Thanks

Once I finish a couple of projects it's going to be a 8hr hunt on the site, so that will give me a good indication of what it'll produce.

Really good turn of events. I understand the feeling when one loses a site for whatever reason. I lost a site recently and it was producing silver. I'm really glad to hear that you ended up with a replacement site. Especially one that is producing silver. I wouldn't be surprised if you come up with some divine intervention in the form of a few gold or silver crosses. Good luck buddy.

Thanks for the reply Against the wind. I'm also familiar to the ol' saying "Poor as a church mouse" that might be the case also at any site.
