Found A Statue Head Need Help With ID

I found this at dark last week and didn't think it was anything but a blob of metal. I was cleaning out my finds pouch when I discovered it was actually the head off a small statue. I'm not sure what the metal is that it's made of. It's right at 2" tall and he's wearing a hat like what you would see from the Renaissance Period. I was thinking it's one of the great painters or artist. I've been told Jesus but I don't agree with that. My wife and a few others say Christopher Columbus but I've never seen a picture of him with a beard. I would appreciate any help on ID if it is a person of history and maybe a web link to info on it. It may just be a random person just as an art piece. Thanks!

That style of beret was popular with the Dutch Masters..Here's a self portrait of Rembrandt Although, based on the hair and beard style, it may be Jesus as rendered by a Renaissance artist. Very cool find.
