Hit the colonial parking lot again and had some success. Found a key date SLQ, a 1917-s type 1 with exposed breast. Also scored a sweet early button that may be my first colonial button at this spot. Last up was a 1911-D barber dime. Hi Scrappy; The SLQ is in FINE Condition ok. Nice. The button is Colonial. Dates to 1750. I know because I did research on them a while back. The design is called HONEY COMB or BEEHIVE for the same style ok. Yours looks to be about 1770 due to it's wear. It was worn for a long time before it was lost. That is why the Pattern Lines are so thin. They are usually thicker ok. No value due to condition but still a nice find ok. PEACE:RONB

Well that's sweet! Thx for the info. This was a colonial farm field and that button was the first evidence of that. It's actually a bit away from my later finds so I'll have to slide my search over. Now to find a silver coin from that time period.

Nice piece of silver you got, she deserves the keeper status for sure. That's one thin button and you're getting to the wanted era, heck I would say you were there with this one, then again we all hope for more when something gets dug.

The nice part about this site is it was converted in 1925 due to development. Almost all the silver and coins I've been finding have been 19-teens and earlier. And if it's not that, it's super modern;)

It's leaning toward colonial for certain! This site was a winter research spot that panned out, and we all know that doesn't happen very often. The sites land has been bulldozed extensively and built upon so finding the undisturbed spots are difficult, but hopefully there will be more to come.

I'm right at 20% with research. Of 10 sites I had researched, 2 worked out (ie. sites no longer standing and re-found). Just this present one and the site in Florida where I dug the big 8-reale.

Hey thanks man. I don't really see that but much appreciated. I feel like I miss a lot.

So today I was thinking about a metal detectorist's hell. To be shown all the coins and relics you missed and passed over during all the years of detecting.

I used to see one I passed over every time Chris posted. He and George felt sorry for me and collaborated so he could find a better avatar, saving me the embarrassment.

I was ready for her. I was just the most perfect soft and crisp signal. I knew it was a silver quarter before I even dug . She saw me and dropped her top;)
