Had a late afternoon metal detecting hunt in Lebanon, PA tonight. Found my best looking 1700s coin - a 1757 King George II half penny. The small brass item is a rein terret.
UPDATE: Well I thought it was 1757 but after research there wasn't a 57. It is either a 1737 or a 1747.
The V did change to U but was back to V in 47. It's the younger bust, only dates 1729 to 1739 so unless the last digit is 9 there's no question about the date.
1757 does exist, but are counterfeits and quite rare, and to find one metal detecting would be incredibly rare. For these all the rules go out the window.
That's a nice KG--I'd love to see a pic of it cleaned and several coats of sealer applied to bring out the details. The rein turret is the smaller open looped item? What is the larger one on top? I believe it's horse tack as well. Nice finds all around.
