I decided to take a day off of work and do some detecting. It seems like that's the only way I can find time to go out lately. Anyways, my first stop was at a vacant lot in the town where I work. I have been eyeing this lot for a long time. The houses around it are mid 1920s to mid 1930s so I think this will be a good spot. The first target I dug up was a wheatie. At that time I thought hey this is gonna be a good day! I spent another 40 minutes there and didn't find anything else but can slaw. It hasn't rained here in two weeks so the ground was concrete. I left there to hit a little park in a neighboring town. I still think the yard has some promise so I'll go back after we get some rain.

My next stop at the park gave me a weird object. It's a small disc. Smaller than a penny but it rang up really high on my AT Pro. A normal copper penny is 80-81 for me and this is 82-83. I actually thought it was a quarter when I first passed over it. Any thoughts as to what this might be?

So my best "target" of the day was the 1949 nickel I got in change from buying water for my excursion. But hey a bad day detecting is better than a good day at work!! Happy hunting everyone!

I'm not sure about that. The disc is pretty much smooth except for the corrosion.

Looks like a medicine weight with no markings.
