When back today to the place I found my plate and all the sling buckles and adjusters, and everything but the sword hanger.. The keeper was about 50 yards from were I found the plate.. Its funny the plate was only about 4inch down. This keeper was way down, every bit of 9 or 10 inch, in hard dry soil..
I was almost as happy as when I found the plate.
So after 150 years give or take they are back together again, and they are appreciated to say the lest!!
Thought you guys would like this.
Thanks for looking George

dang to get the whole rig is rare --look for the numbers on it they should 'match' proof that they are a set...

Thats the first thing Steve in PA told me. But the plate has no numbers and the keeper has 318 on it.

George, I have to admit I'm surprised you found it. I know how hard you had already looked for it. Even though there is no number on the plate, I would have to think that keeper was on the same belt as your plate. Maybe the original keeper was lost and replaced with the one you ended up finding.

WTG V!!! The only 1851 plate I have dug was in a U.S. Cavalry camp and fortunately had the tongue mashed down on the keeper. WTG, Q.

I KNOW!! You know how hard I looked for that piece..
I kind of gave up on it, I was on the other side of the property just poking around. Never even thought about it..
Then BANG. THE signal wasn't even good. Alot of EMI over there as you know. Thanks.
