A quick hunt today confirmed my suspicions that my 1890 permission had an earlier place in the corner of the lot. I weeded through lots of iron and produced the following...

And a fresh dug pic for you dirt connoisseurs

I'm wondering the age on the ring. The LC is of course an 1827 and the Indian is an 1863. The ring was found about the same depth. I didn't clean it and plan on carefully handling it. Also the lead seal is pretty rad. I need to figure out what was here before...

Anyway, happy hunting!

Steve

Sweet little ring, I really those old ones. Nice LC too. The only lead seals I get are the little ones, that is one pretty cool. Congrats on a great property.

Thx quela. I usually find small ones and ones the size of quarters. This is probably the biggest seal I've found. Seals are always great signs of commerce, which means coins!

Some pretty cool finds Scrappy, the ring is an early nice one and always a nice dig. I haven't ever seen a key like the one you dug before it's really a different one

Thx Pepp. I'm wondering how early the ring is...my sister is some sort of gemologist grader so she can tell me if its a real diamond or not.

Look at that "A Skeleton Key with it's own hanging hook. "
Maybe from an old hotel where the keys were hung on a board?

That's a pretty good guess I would think. It's certainly a room key verse a house key with its size. Maybe a brothel key?!?! Lol

Hey there OD! I wonder if there's an old key book? Before this summer I never dug a brass key. Only old iron ones...now I found 6 or 7 this late summer..! Crazy. Kind of like how you're going to go on a 10 or 12 OD nickel streak once you get that first!
