I have hunted this spot at least 10 times in the last year. The new Excal combined with some change in technique is proving to make a difference.

Found six rings total today.....

This one marked "14k Wilshire"

This beast appears to be custom with an Emerald. Not marked, very shiny, non magnetic, scratch test with acid proved inconclusive. My gut says silver but it is so shiny and heavy. Maybe stainless? Maybe platinum? Your feedback on metal type would be appreciated.

This time both big rings were found in knee deep water and about 20 feet from one another.

Thanks for looking, take care and happy hunting!

I would definitely have that big ring looked at by a jeweler - tested for platinum - with that weight there's a chance !

CTR ring looks to be a recent drop. I know they've only recently handed them out locally. I had a neighbor come by on Sunday night asking if I could come detect his daughter's ring, as she got it in Church that day, and had lost it immediately in the back yard. I'd call it it a ring find and return, but the 2 minutes it took to find it wasn't exactly earth shattering. LOL

For other's who don't know, these CTR rings mean "Choose the Right," and are the split ones are given away to 8-9 year olds as part of a lesson every year about being Valiant. This is something the LDS Church (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, also known as "The Mormons") has done for for at least a half-century. As many adults wear them, as well, CTR rings come in silver and gold and other wonderful varieties. Personally, I've found a silver, a gold, and a Titainium Carbide variant recently, along with probably a dozen of these split style kid rings.

Cheers!

Skippy

I would recomend adding the platinum solution to your acids.also I just had to get a new set of solutions as my old ones were giving unreliable readings on my stone.especially the silver solution.bout 15 bucks on ebay for the puritest solution pkg.it has 10k,14k,18k,22k,silver,platinum.

my best guess on the honker would be stainless.the workmanship just doesnt look there for platinum.pics are tough tho...as said, have it tested.

great hunt...:occasion14:

So I took the big signet ring to a reputable jeweler and it is in fact solid silver. This surprised me in that is was SO shiny. Typically the silver will be blackish when I pull it out of the water. Obviously this is a very recent drop. Been checking CL lost and found and so far no ring losses. There is also a small chip in the Emerald.
Love it...
