I dug this one while scouting for CW relics today. Farmland outside towns in middle Tennessee was used for army maneuvers during WW2. Our area was selected for maneuvers since the terrain was similar to that in France, italy, and Germany where the majority of new troops were to be deployed in the European theater during WW2. We frequently recover the 30-06 cartridges for the M-1 rifle from blanks fired when the red and blue armies practiced deployment, ambush, etc. Occasionally, we dig a great seal button, badge, or coins from the area where they occupied. I always consider it an honor to recover a relic from America's "greatest generation" when everything was on the line. I often wonder if the young soldier survived the war. HH, Q.

You are so right OD! Nearly all the soldiers participating in those maneuvers are now gone. We owe all our veterans a LOT. HH, Q.

I dug a WW I collar insignia the other night. Didn't know what it was at first. This post would have helped. Nice find. Check mine out
