Hello all finally got some free time and went back to where i found my 1803 lc everything is deep at this spot so i am digging everything. started off with a small button my 9th from this spot i also found 4 links of chain with a hook on the end that looks really old. a whatsit a lot of hand made nails and a hard to date matron head large cent. i got an iffy signal moved some mertle and ivy away and got a big hit problem was there where to foundation rocks in the hole. i was able to move the rocks apart and out pops this large cent. the date is very faint and hopefully i can make it out. pics to follow good luck and hh to all

The coin in the pic that kenb posted is probably from the 1835-1838 period. For some reason, those coins frequently have a weak date, even when new. Also, the shape of the head is consistent with coins from that period. There's nothing like the thrill of dgging up an early copper.
