Medal of Honor (w/MST answer)

Medal of Honor.JPG

Long time lurker who was active on another outdoor forum that had a MD section, but they shut down. I can't go without a MD outlet!:laughing7: Started my MD career back in 75 with a White's 6000D. Back into it again when I bought an M6 last year. Have some interesting finds to post, but thought I would start with this one. Found it in the older section of town and down about 7 inches. I have emailed the Managing Editor of the now Star Tribune and she is researching, as I can find nothing on the internet.

With the title I thought this was a military award, but it is not. Too bad, as that would have been a really great find.

Is there anything on the back of the medal? Post a picture of the back?

As is, it is a great find, and welcome to the forums.

Welcome to TNet,,, Thank you for posting such an interesting find.
My first detector was a beep and dig, purchased in 1970 while I was in the Navy.
Nice to see there are still a few "Old timers" around.
Good luck on the research and keep us posted

Got an answer, sort of, from the MST News Research Director.......

I’m sorry but I won’t be able to give you a definitive answer about the medal you found. I recall the issue coming up once before . At that time, there was copy editor here ( now recently retired after 45 years at the paper) who was also a collector of Star Tribune memorabilia. He often bought Star Tribune historical items off ebay. I believe at the time he said the medal was something given to newspaper carriers after a certain time of service.

The Star Tribune has never had a corporate archive nor are there any records of employee/ carrier incentives over the years so this is the best I can do in response to your question.
