According to information that I received some years ago, via Valspar, tokens like these came with cans of Masury paint and Swedish enamel from 1955 to 1970, and Masury reportedly employed three women in its labeling line to attach the tokens with a ribbon through the hole— a personal touch which slowed production, but was kept up because it was the marketing "brainstorm" of one of the vice presidents of the Masury/Davis Paint Company. The tokens were also given away at paint trade shows. In 1979, Masury was acquired by the Valspar Corporation.

Leksand is a town near Stockholm, Sweden, and Målare is Swedish for painters.

However, here is a link to a page with additional, and somewhat different, details:

Thanks, PBK, as usual, for the great information; I suspected that you would make a contribution to this post. I learn more on this forum when I don't find a coin.

Henry, I see you changed your avatar. Now we know what you really look like! :D

I might have a contest to see if anyone can guess this man's identity. His grave sits on a college campus that would be a goldmine to detect. I missed my opportunity :'(.

Charles Finey?

No, but he did start a college campus(Oberlin College). That has some history(mid 1800's). I know what he looks like. A good read - "Lectures on Revivals of Religion".

Your man looks English or Scottish...am I on the right track?
