Hello all,
It has been a while since I posted. Here are the results of our last several visits to the Civil War camp that we have permission to hunt. They harvested the beans so we had a small window to hunt in. We have done very well at this “hunted out” site I think. We found our second US breast plate (my first) and a lot of other nice finds including a brass wedding ring. Not to mention several as of yet unidentified things, so if you see something in the pictures feel free to chime in with what they might be. Especially the iron stuff like the bigger piece with the two holes in it (3rd picture) and the large pin type object (6th picture), There is one brass piece with a “bullseye” pattern on it that we are wondering about in the 4th picture. It looks like a cap off of something (no threads) Thanks for looking

The bullseye thing could be a horse bridal rosette. Hard to tell from the picture.

Thanks for the reply. We thought of that and I know it is not a good picture but sides are about 1/2 inch tall which is a bit tall for a rosette (I think). It really resembles a cap of some kind but there are no threads but the sides are ribbed like the top

Man, what a great spot! You've got some nice stuff there. Assuming you know about knap sack hook, Kepi buckle, belt adjuster and about 4 different pieces of shoulder epaulets? Well done!

Great group of relics. We have hunted in the past in Kentucky in bean/ corn fields,it's so peaceful even if you find zilch. The round object looks like shotgun casing to me even though it's way too big.

Thanks everyone for all of the replies. So far the best guesses on the brass thing are either a cap from an oil lamp or the cap from a flask of some sort. Who knows. Still open to guesses on this or any of the other stuff.
