That is most assuredly a 90% silver US coin. If you have never found one before, then that would indeed be your first!

Congrats and hopefully many more will show up!

They stopped making IH pennies in 1909. They stop making silver quarters and dimes in 1964. Therefore, if you are finding IHs, chances are there's silver around!

Yep,, Winged Liberty Dime,, 1916 - 1945
They were nicknamed "Mercury" because the wings reminded everyone of the Roman God Mercury.
The wings on the sides of Lady Liberty ' s head were supposed to represent freedom of thought.
Pick up a couple of coin folders and put that bad boy in one. Mark the date and place of find on it and put it in a special place. You can order Yeoman's Red Book of Coins, as well as the coin folders from Wizard Coin Supply.
Congrats on your first silver.

Congratulations on your first silver. 1964 is the cutoff date, so 1964 and earlier are silver. Good luck on your hunts.

That's a nice first silver. Mine was a '64 Roosevelt dime. You did considerably better. Congrats!

Congrats on getting you first silver, something that only happens once, save it, look at it, smile and live the moment all over again till the next one.

If you decide to sell it-just give the short hairs a good yank to bring yourself back to reality.:laughing7:
