I've been in a horrible detecting slump for nearly 2 months. I usually average about 10-15 old nickels (Buffs, V or War) a month but I haven't dug a single one since early September. They are out there because Park Pirate has been digging them all around me. Only thing I've dug has been a few indian head cents and a lone mercury dime. Hit an area of one of our local parks today and near a century old pathway I got a nice high pitched signal right off to the side of an iron hit. Dug down about 8" and out came a nice 1854 large cent. Second one out of this park this year. A while later I dug a 1901 V nickel that hopefully will get me back on track. I thought somebody had stolen my metal detecting mojo but maybe I got it back today !

Well if you're going to break a slump... that's the way to do it.

Nice detail on the Large..

(I have the opposite problem... I've been digging old coppers all summer... but they're all smoothies.)

I think this will be known as the Year of the Slump lol. That's a very late LC. For some reason the later ones don't seem to show up like earlier ones. Hope you can get over that hurdle soon.

Great to see you're back up on the saddle again for finds, strange how a slump can rally suck the life out of the mojo.

Congrats on a really pretty coin.
I been blessed this year with my best silver year ever. However, I haven't seen one single L.C. all year. That's the way it goes. You don't plan on finding a specific coin type, it just happens.
Best of luck on your next hunt.

Your're over the slump now! Nice looking LC, with the date and all! Congrats!
It is out there, waiting. That's what keeps me going, knowing what is out there. The "finding" part is my problem.
