On Sunday, I met my buddy Brian in a Kings County Park. With him swinging a Deus and me the E-Trac, we started to dissect a lawn that was close to a lake. The perfect place for people to lounge and watch nature unfold in front of them. The weather was perfect with a little briskness in the air.
The slight chill has a tendency to keep the crowds away. I couldn't resist taking a few pictures of the birds and scenery. A very pretty time of the year. With Brian slipping away into the woods, I continued to focus on the lawn in front of me. After about an hour, I hit a shallow screamer and into the daylight appeared a Mercury Dime. Shortly after that recovery, Brian reappeared and let me know that he had recovered a silver Washington Quarter. I was genuinely happy for him. It seems like his XP Deus Boot Camp Seminar with Andy Sabisch may be paying off. The Deus is not a turn on and go machine. It's performance in NYC Parks is hampered by the abundance of steel bottle caps. They tend to come in right around the silver dime range.
I returned to swinging the coil and Brian went back to the wooded area. Right around 11 A.M, Lady Mercury was joined by a Silver Roosevelt Dime. One more silver and I would reach the 150 silver coin bench mark. Well, I knew right then and there, I wouldn't be leaving the park until dark, unless I could find another silver coin before sundown. It just wasn't meant to be. It wasn't like I didn't try. I searched 2 more areas that gave up silver last year but it was fruitless. I did get one unusual surprise. I investigated a high pitch and dug out a Cracker Jack Mystery Club Coin. In the same hole was a red Question Mark. Upon closer examination, I discovered that it too was a Cracker Jack prize. My very first Cracker Jack Spill.

My finds for the day were: one $1 coin, 23q, 43d, 7n, 44 memorials, 8 wheat pennies, (41, 44(2), 45d, 46(3), & 50), a 1943s Mercury Dime, a 1963d Roosevelt Dime, and a 1998 Canadian Nickel.
I also recovered a dog tag, 2 buttons, some scrap brass and 2 Cracker Jack Prizes.
My Silver Coin Count for 2015 now sits at 149 coins.

That's a whole lot of digging! You gotta keep digging, at least one more silver!

Nice hunt "Wind". I like the silvers, but have to say that picture of the Cardinal is awesome. They remind me of my Father-In-Law as that was his favorite bird & he always had them in his yard. I like your appreciation of nature, by stopping to enjoy the "other" treasures that are out there. I do the same thing.

Man I wish I knew you back in 2012. I took a cross country motorcycle trip. Hit all the western states that I had never been through on a bike. I stopped along the way to do a few hunts. I can now say that I have been through all of the lower 48 on a Harley.
