1853 Half Dime, Civil War Eagle (I) Button, and Bullets: Thrusday's Finds

Vol1266-X and I went back to a Confederate camp, searched, and found Civil War relics. Vol1266-X found a 0.58 caliber bullet plus some brass artifacts. I found an 1853 Half Dime and an Eagle (I) button that still has some gold gilt on it. The half dime has a hole in it so the soldier could keep it on a copper wire so he wouldn't loose it. The Eagle button was probably worn by an officer. I also found a dropped 0.69 caliber round ball in excellent condition.

Great finds. I wish it would rain so I can go dig again. I might as well be digging in asphalt here in KY.

Great finds, those half dimes are tiny. I can see how they could loose them they are so small.

Good 'uns! That Eagle should clean up nicely with a little aluminum jelly.

As usual, you left your reading glasses in the truck last thursday and neither of us could read the BM on the button. Did you ever check it? You had your best day at that camp yet. The XLT was reaching deep into that hard ground last week. Good Going!!!

Nice CW finds. I'd like to find some bullets.

Maybe some of the experienced CW hunters could help me out. I'm wondering if you have ever tried to find stuff on a skrimish site after housing development. I think I've located one, and it looks to be developed. I MIGHT be able to get permission, but want to decide if it would be worth while.

Thanks and HH.

Halfdime,
There are arrows on each side of the date. No mint mark.
Thanks

This is what I have discovered about developed places. Usually it destroys the site. The best chance to find something is on high ground or around the edges of the property.
