Short hunt today yields two mystery civil war buttons, extra large key, and more!

I had some home to hunt a spot that has always given up good targets. I need some help with the eagle cuff as the wings are dropped and stars circling the eagle. I haven't seen a union with drooped wings before. Also, any date on the anchor cuff? Both are two far gone to get a back mark. I thought the bedazzled pewter button was a great find.

That is one massive key, unless those are just really small buttons! That's the kind of key you use to open a chest of KGC gold!

Sorry about the double picture post and sideways view, I uploaded from my phone. UnderMiner, the buttons are cuff and shirt size, but the key is still massive.

Great finds, that key is awesome. I picked up a bedazzeled a few years ago as well, they are rare I think.

The drooped wing eagle is similar to the New York officer style, although the shield is different and the Excelsior is absent at the bottom. The back is plain and missing the shank. The anchor button is iron and in bad shape.

The anchor button with the steel back, is very likely a blazer button. The other one, I wondered if it was a diplomatic or patriotic type but I have no books to check & I was hoping someone more experienced would help.(not ruled out a blazer button yet....but a good picture of the reverse will help the experts)

The Eagle and Anchor button are probably either much earlier or much later than Civil war.
Without a picture of the back it is hard to tell.
I will say that I see the backs of some other buttons in the group photo, and you appear to have a few early flat buttons.
I think ive read that the Flat buttons were phased out around 1820.

Some flat buttons still around in the 1840s.
