Haven't been out much, and have not posted in awhile.
In the last 2 weeks, i have managed to get out 2 times. The first time, i got a couple barber dimes and mercks. Some IHs, and what I believe is the top of a silver match safe.
Today was a different story.
I had a few hours to kill, and I was close to a spot that has been sooo good to me over these last 2 years.
My choice today was to pick a hot area and dig everything! I mean iron and everything.
Well, it worked out!! Alot of work but it worked out. I cant believe how much is still in this place being masked! I bet I haven't even scratched the surface???
All these keepers, and not 1 great signal.
Lets take for example the LC. It had 4 pieces of round iron in the hole.
When the LC popped out I was dumb founded. Like, NO WAY??? LOL
Anyway just wanted to share my experience today with my peeps. Haha.
This is why there is soooo much stuff still in the ground.
The capped is a 1827, same as my half I dug in the summer. The 1/2 reale is 1800. The LC is 1837.
I even found a Canadian LC, and a young Victoria 1872.
The Louisiana tax token is really cool
And I always like fatty IHs. Its a 1863.
Thanks for looking, and it goes to show, DIG EVERYTHING if the site is old!!!
George

I knew you were going to try to get out this weekend, and it looks like you managed to kick serious butt once again. I haven't seen a silver dime grand slam for a while...capped, barber, merc, and rosie?! That's awesome, and a Spanish silver to boot! Nice coppers, rings and I like the little key too.

I agree with digging everything at an old and productive site. If you spend the time to dig it all you WILL be rewarded.

Good job George

Vino,

Nice mix of old finds.....and yes if the site has some age odds are good lots of keepers are being masked by the trash.

You dirty stinky weasel! Damn you George! That is killer brother. This reminds me of a story. This guy had a site that he knew should be great. But it was full of trash and iron. He spent the better part of two years cleaning it up. He didn't find anything good for the longest time. Finally he got all of the crap and iron out and lo and behold he found several early silvers and other great items. I firmly believe that if we took our great early sites and cleaned them out we would be shocked at what was hiding in there. We are just too damn impatient and always believe the grass is greener elsewhere. Btw I will call Ya tomorrow my man....I mean lucky jerk lol

That capped bust may be nearly worn smooth, but she's a beauty in my eyes. Its still on my wish list.

I love the Louisiana Tax token, you may dig another Spanish silver in your lifetime, but that is probably your first and last Louisiana Tax token

Nice digs as usual. I've got my one great site and just this past weekend got an SLQ that was reading like iron with peeks to foil. I hope a Spanish or capped is hiding here too

I've been hitting my best spot for 6 years. There is (was) so much junk it's unreal. Every time I think there's nothing left I go dig iron and junk out of the way and something good pops up. I'm sure the townsfolk think I'm out of my mind because I spend WAY too much time there...

Another killer hunt Vino! Love those silvers, buttons and everything man. Will be very interested to hear about the AC button. Its hard work, but digging all those crappy signals at the right sites, is totally worth it. Another sick hunt from a pounded site. I've been doing a similar thing this year at my main site with similar results... its a real rush getting a clump of dirt from the bottom of a hole and hearing a nice high tone in it.

Those pictures of the silvers and coppers on that black velour are just amazing. The person that came up with that is probably a borderline genius and a really great relic hunter. :laughing7: You could probably put a pile of pull tabs on that black background and get another banner up top.... its just that good.
