Searching alongside of a house ramp in town. I found this buckle, however, I am having difficulty identifying it. It has a J on the front and it appears to have I.B. Co stamped on it. There is another marking on the hinge of PATDN01783854. Any help would be appreciated. Tomorrow I am going to try cleani g the tarnish off to see if there is any shine left to it. Not sure who the IB Co belongs to in terms of silver plate hallmark but someone else will probably track that down. What I can tell you is two fold. One, found an example of a similarly marked monogramed silver plate buckle made by the same manufacturer on that big four letter word buying/selling website...take a look here

#12 of 13, OLD VTG SILVER PLATED BRONZE I.B.Co BELT BUCKLE, ART DECO DESIGN, "N"

Second, the patent filed in late 1929 and granted in 1930 for a new clamp lever buckle design for a W.J. Morse, who, a decade earlier had patented another belt buckle.

So...I guess we have a post 1930 silver plate buckle with IB CO stamp that has a few other similar examples floating around.
