I went with oldjerseygirl back to our soybean fields, she found a Half Cent , looks like a braided hair cent, a wheatie and a couple flat buttons. She should be the poster girl for Garrett AT Pro!
I found a musket ball, little flat button and the holed silver. I didn't know what I found, I was sitting in the dirt licking that coin trying to figure out what I had. I had myself convinced I found my oldest silver coin I ever found. I had no service where I was and much later found out it was a uno (one Franco Dominican coin) Haaaa, scrappy told me what it was when I was driving home. Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited and very happy I found this cool coin! :-)
Here is a link to my coin,
1 Franco - Dominican Republic – Numista
They only minted 125,000 of these!

Enjoy the pix

Silver is never bad. And it is an old coin. The possibilities at that place are endless. Also bet not many of those are found. I am still dreaming of finding a gold coin before I die. You just never know. We had a good day. Here is my half cent. Almost got a date. half cent 001.JPG half cent 006.JPG

Hey Jersey, Check the reverse of the coin. There were various backs, & you may be able to date it this way. Mine did not have a clear date, but by looking at the reverse it was the stemless wreath variety which was in 1804 only. Good luck.

I know things change over time. But, every time I find a coin in a field that big I always wonder
how did it get there!?

Nice again!

Hey, Coin Licker! Great finds!
The coin had great value to the wearer of it - do you sense that, too...?
Thanks for the post - keep at it, as there's more treasure out there to be found....!

I'm betting on a migrant worker dropped it. I found a Cuban coin in a farmer's yard, 1918. I'm betting same thing.
Thanks

Still think a migrant worker, never know what you might find out where it will be. Always exciting!
