It's been tough sledding lately for me...today's finds included a nickel size & vdi coin

I can make out "ates" on the coin, but that's it. would love to be able to determine if it's a v nickel or buffalo, as it would be my 1st notable nickel...any thoughts?

Buffalo nickels don't normally corrode as bad as shield or V nickels. I'd guesst it's either a V or shield. Congrats on the nice digs. :occasion14:
