Here's the front and back of my cross cannons can't figure out the back help me

That is the darndest thing! It looks like maybe a brass plate that was used to set or test type? A Type Press Plate? Could the cannons have been cut and crafted from a plate?

Just seen A.E. co. Utica NY on the back might have it tested to be gold or not
